Bright Lights on Gary Clark Jr.

So this week I’m really feeling the old school vibe.  Tonight’s artist has the exact vibe in mind.  Gary Clark Jr. is considered by some to be the leader of the Texas Rock scene.  He is mainly recognized for his guitar playing that has been compared to Jimmy Hendrix.   he is also recognized for his self- titles EP and for his ability to explore other genres of music.

Gary’s back round is interesting.  At the age of twelve he began playing the guitar.  He fell in love with the music and as a teen had many gigs.  After preforming one night he was spotted by a promoter, Clifford Antone.  This provided a great launch pad musical icons such as  Jimmie Vaughan.  From there he began his self made career.

So tonight’s song Bright Lights is a great representation of his old school sound.  At first listen you might think its Jimmy Hendrix. The guitar is totally raw and moving.   Then he comes in with soulful voice the blends and stands out at the same time.  For any who love the rawness of rock n roll then here are two of his songs to rock out with.
