Gotye making breakups seem artsy

It as been far to long since my last music post.  I’m am truly happy to finally have time and sit down and share music.  So todays artist is Gotye.  Wouter De Backer is Belgian- Australian multi-instrumental musician and singer/songwriter.  To add on to his coolness he is classified under indy rock and experminental rock!  For his first albums Gotye used samples of song s and mashed them together.  Using different combinations he created a four track CD including his song Out here in the cold.  After some experimenting with his duet group The Basics,  he returned to his solo career.

Today’s song is Somebody I used to know.  If you haven’t already heard it on the radio/friends then you’re in for a pleasant surprise.  His song is a pleasant blend between reggae and indy.  Also a nice touch is the perfect blend of his voice and Kimbra.    Both singers add a smokey texture to the already mysterious song.  The balance between the deep voice of Gotye and the sweeter sound of his female counterpart, is exceptional.  The guitar is chill and has a little of a dark edge to it.  It sounds like a cross between vacation music and something unknown.  I would highly recommend this song if you like the sound of chill music and interesting melodies.
