Tired of Playing by Rules

Sometimes the feeling of the world is on your shoulders.  The feeling that everyone around you is playing by a game that you have no interest in playing in. Maybe it is the stress of applying to colleges or life in general, but do you ever feel like you could do more, to be more?  ultimately in order to do that you must change the game and the rules.  So tonight I am going through some of the aspects that make me want to change the game:

Movies: Crossfire hurricane

In all cliché rebellion, you always turn to The Rolling Stones for some raw teenage rebellion .  So flipping through channels I saw a movie centered around the rise of the infamous band.  It was amazing.  I never gave them much attention to the Stones until now.  Through interviews and behind the scene moments, the Stones became even more infamous in my mind.  Highly recommend this movie

Fashion:

Recently I have been in the mode to change up my fashion sense.  I’m tired of playing safe when it comes to dressing up.  So what better way to spice things up with some bold colors and creative patterns.  I logged onto http://www.pixiemarket.com/.  Their stuff was extremely edgy with the right kind of clean cut look.  Combining different designers, the end result is an accumulation of vivid colors, nicely cut shirts and bottoms and bold patterns.  It is the perfect site to find that top that can make a statement.

Music: Chambermaid Swing Parov Stelar

With a new attitude and new look, you need a song to have a good time.  So what better way then a swing.  In Parov Stelar’s new song, the musician manages to make the jazzy music, into an edgy dance party.  So get into party mode and swing like it’s 1920.  Cause if this song has no limits neither do you.

Now I I have not blogged in forever!  Thats because I have been spending time on vacation.  As a result I have a major case of island time.  I’ve spent a lot of time hanging out in the sun and thinking about what I could possibly blog about.  But then it hit me… make a playlist for beach.  So here is a list of songs to listen to while on the beach.

1. Vamos A La Playa- Loona

Uber Chill Playlist

I am all excited to say that we have a three day weekend.  If your like me and need a serious break from stress then this playlist is for you.  Here are some extremely chill songs to on repeat.

Nothing Like You and I- The Perishers

These guys are a swedish indy rock band.  This song is kind of lazy and cute to listen to.

Rescue Song (RAC Remix)- Mr. Little Jeans:

This song is perfect for lazy mornings and I-feel-like-staying-in-my-pajamas-feeling.  The sound is clean and chic and reminds me of a clear morning with the sun shining through the curtains.

Keep the lights on- Wave Machines:

This song makes for a good funky morning.  The beat is awesome and the tune is spunky but not way to spunky.

Something or nothing- Pale Seas:

This song is the chillest of all the songs.  I has a soothing tone and a chimes to add to the euphoria it creates.

Breaking Away- Ratatat:

Ratatat uses more beats, but in it’s own weird way you can listen and find yourself at ease.

The Sea Of Cortez – Telephonic:

This is perfect to listen to first thing in the morning!

Hoped you guys liked this and have an awesome weekend!

The Digital

As I was checking my twitter this morning, I noticed a group called The Digitals requested to follow me.  I decided it wasn’t such a bad idea to check out who they were.  unfortunately the only site with info was their facebook page.  The two members  are Dave Farese and Ian Bunn.  They have multiple genres they associate with.  They are a mixture of electro, hip hop, and pop punk. I highly recommend this band if you like the Cataracs(if you don’t know who they are I’ll post one of their music videos).  Neat fact about this band is their unsigned and have no label and apparently make mixtapes!

As I said if you like the Cataracs you’ll like these guys.  They have the same party attitude.  My favorite lyric from one of their songs is “like a tornado I’m tearing it up I’m dropping it low I got vertigo.”  Well defiantly  expect to hear these guys on Z100 and every high school party.  Here is their myspace account and music video’s:

After Hours on a Friday Night

Here is a perfect song for you late Friday night.  One of their songs that is played in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist is being put a on repeat all night.  After Hours - We are the scientists is a great relax and possibly have fun getting drunk song.  We are the Scientists are a New York based indy rock band.  Though I haven’t heard any other songs by them I highly recommend them.  Here is After Hours:

Skylar Grey slightly disappointed

If you guys don’t know who Skylar Grey she was the mysterious voice in both Dr. Drea’s hit “I need a Doctor” and PDiddy’s comeback “coming home”. From what I have seen of Skylar I was really excited for her to come out with her own songs. So you can imagine my reaction when I found her new single on Youtube. The song is title Invisible.  It really was not what I was expecting.

Her voice was great don’t get me wrong, but the lyrics and the video made me depressed.  Her lyrics “even when I’m on the wire and in the flames I still feel invisible.” The sad part about it is that the melody isn’t even that good.  It makes me sad to have to say that.  But I’m willing to get opinions so check out the video posted below and comment on how you like it.
