All this week I have had a weird sense of adventure. Though it’s been raining after I am pumped to go play and be carefree. But as always one must consult a loyal companion… my Ipod. As I was looking a the list I found I song I had just downloaded and have been listening to it non stop. So tonight’s artist is Kate Herzig. As I kept listening to the song I began to feel getting pumped to face the impossible.
So as I was ready to face the impossible/blog about it, I looked her up and guess what… she’s a grammy artist! She was originally born in California but grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado. She also attended UC Boulder (I really want to got there). At her time in Boulder she formed a band named Homecomer after recieving an acoustic guitar from her father her senior year. After playing with them for a few years she began her solo career. After releasing her first album Watch them Fall TV show such as Grey’s Anatomy and Smallville started using her music on their shows. Coincidentally I had found tonight’s song, Lost and Found from MTV’s Mob Wives. Most of her music is influence by folk and a little bit of pop.
This song is great for getting yourself pumped up. The begginning reminds me alot of Freelance Whale’s Generator. As the song progresses with lyrics a mellow beat comes in and Katie’s strong yet quiet voice ensues. The lyrics are a little ambiguous but some how leave the listener relating to the words. The best is in the chorus. In the chorus we got some synthesizers with some big beats in the back and the inspirational melody. Basically at the end of this you will feel like going outside and run three miles. She’s a great singer and I highly reccommend this song to anyone who ever needs a booster it’s right here:

For most New Yorkers Spring Break is in full bloom. With that being said I found a artist/song has the appropriate sound and style. Tonight’s band is a indy rocking British duo. Now tonight’s song is all about being free and having fun with no strings attached.
For the occassion tonight’s artist is Graffiti6. If any of you are familiar with MTV then you have probably already heard some of his music, including tonight’s song Free. To give a little backround, this group is actually a duo. The British lead vocals, Jamie Scott and the producer/songwriter Tommy “D” Danvers joined forces in London in 2008. After meeting and creating song multi-instrumentalist music, Jamie introduced “the folk thing”. After experimenting they finally created a new sound with their track Stare into the Sun. Since then their songs won recognition on commercials and MTV.
Tonight’s song is Free. Even from the funky acoustic guitar entrance to the smooth jazzy vocals. The song lives up to it’s title. The refreshing base and funky guitar strings makes me feel as though the summer never left. And may I just say, what a voice Jamie Scott has. This song reminds me of and ice cold drink on a rather hot summer day. If your fan of blues, summer music, and jazz you should download this song and put it on repeat:

This goes out to any Paramore or Hey Monday then this band is another great find. We are the in crowd is recently featured on MTV’s Push artist. The band consists of Tay Jardine (vocals), Jordan Ekes (guitar/ vocals), Mike Ferri (bass), and Rob Chianelli and Cameron Hurley on drums and guitar. I wouldn’t say that they sound different but they have two different singers (which I like). They are originally from Poughkeepsie, NY. They have two music videos out now and seem to be doing very well.
I’m going to be honest, I have my doubts about this band. I really do like the shared vocals of Tay and Jordan but I feel like they really pop rock (if that exists). But regardless of how I feel, they are pretty decent. Most of the songs have good lyrics(definitely a plus) but I think they could be a little more unique with their sound. Here are two music videos from them and tell what you think after:

If any of you guys like sleigh bells then you’ll like this new artist, EMA. She was part of a band called gowns, which just recently split. She made her debut with her song life martyred saints. The song I know by her was her single milkman. She her songs are unique with a mush of high guitar strings. If you wanna be an awesome hipster you defs want to show this song to your friends.
I strongly recommend EMA if any of you like collage of sounds. Another recommendation if you like Sleigh Bells. Here are some of EMA’s songs and Sleigh Bells:

These guys are awesome!! If you haven’t already heard them preform at the MTV music video awards, well heres a second chance to listen to this awesome band. They were formely known as The Jakes but adopted a new title of Young the Giant. This band was founded in Irvine, California. The band’s line-up is Sameer Gadhia (lead vocals), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Payam Doostzadeh (bass guitar), and François Comtois (drums). Not only are their lyrics great but their use of different guitars and the drums makes life a whole lot more enjoyable. How can people resist songs that has lyrics like “playing by the train station where I used to live when I was a cool kid”? Here are the youtube video’s to of the songs I like by them:
