New Year New Blog

Summer is finally here!  And with summer comes a new and improved blog.  For the past months my up keep has been the least to say, lacking.  I admit I was pretty lazy and some what uninspired.  But Junior year is behind me and I have longer days to do some of the things I want a.k.a blogging.  But this blog is no longer just a music blog.  I am expanding it and creating a blog used for creative ideas, music, and other things I like.

So before I post anything I would just like to recap what has been going on since you last heard.  First off, lets start with the awesome new movies that are out in theatres.  For example, Snow White and the Huntsman.  I was particularly excited when I saw that Florence and the Machine created a new song for the film.  The song is called Breathe of Life.  It’s the best song that I have heard in a while.  The beginning sets the whole song up for greatness.  The pounding of the drums and Florence‘s singing makes the whole thing amazing. As the song continues her lyrics capture the human emotions in the movie.

I highly recommend this song to anyone who loves Florence and the Machine.  Well I hope this was a good off to your summer.  Until next time…

Teens will just be teens

So I’m writing this post for any teenager out there. See a a junior in high school I’ve sacrificed a lot of time spending time on studying. As the end of the term came to pass I realized that I just wanted to be a kid again. In doing so I found some great music to help me release my inner partier. Because I have been so bad about blogging lately(probably tired of hearing my excuses), I’m going to make it up. So for the entire week I am a song a day/Barron’s info you want to know, that make you wanna rock out and just have some careless fun. This playlist is dedicated to those who spend some time of their lives acting, dancing, or whatever being a child.
1. Teenagers-feeling better
the teenagers

The first song is is a French synths pop band. They were originally founded as a joke. But after their first song homecoming they reached a different kind of popularity. A lot of their songs have some good guitar set against some awesome synths. I specifically chose this song for a reason. I have to say whenever I listen to it I want to find an old abandoned house somewhere and throw a really big party. Not only is the music great but the weird lyrics and the odd vocals make any lonesome/outsider teen feel as thou they are going to have s rocking, cause who there for you were your cold and alone. The Teenagers!!! So download this song call up some friends and forget your problems.

First Aid Kit’s Folk Revival

Tonight’s band is a little different.  Tonight’s artists fall into the category of folk. Sisters, Johanna and Klara Söderberg sent their first song “Tangerine” to a Swedish radio show in 2007, under the name of First Aid Kit.  In the next year their debut album, Drunken Trees.  Most of their music is influenced by the up and coming band Fleet Foxes.  With their sweet voices and organic and calming melodies they are the perfect cure for a soothing experience.

I would love to compare them to someone else but I really can’t.  Although they are classified as folk, the twang in their vocals make it almost sound like country.  Now a lot of people I know are usually turned off by country, but if your looking for a new spin on country I would reccomend these guys.  But wait there’s more!  Not only do they have great voices and melodies but the lyrics are FREAKING AMAAZING!  In Ghost Town  maybe it might just be the sad guitar but the lyrics make them ten times better.  But I’ll let you decide for yourself.  Here are three of my favorite songs by them:

Ghost town- First Aid Kit:

When I grow up- First Aid Kit

The Lions Roar- First aid Kit

Bear & Boy are at the feeding line

Today’s band is originally from down under Sydney, Australia.  Boy & Bear was originally create a solo gig for muscian  Dave Hosking.  As other members( Jake Tarasenko, Killian Gavin and Tim Hart) started to join they formed an interesting indy band. Together this band have made two albums and their song  Feeding Line has come to America!

I am truly in love with Feeding Line.  From the great bass line to the rough edge voice to the haunting lyrics.  Everything thing you might have had some fear of is suggested in this song.  I could tell you my favorite lyrics but I just love them all.   Their lyrics are somewhat difficult to understand and leave a lot to interpretation.  Kind of gets you thinking…

If your having a hard time in life listen to this song and maybe it will give you guidance.  This is a truly brilliant song.  Here is the music video enjoy!

Daniel Johnston and bringing back retro

So first let me start off by saying how very sorry I am for my over due posts.  Lately I have had a boat load of homework, so just bare with me.  Second, while I decided tonight was the perfect time for procrastination, I started watching trailers.  I found this interesting international film called Sidwalls.  I found this adorable song that even gives me hope for my life.  The song is called True love will find you in the end.  It is by a singer/ songwriter Daniel Johnston.  He was born in 1961 but he was also a visual artist, which makes him even cooler.

I could give you guys a whole detailed/ more organized explanation of why this song is worthwhile. All I have to say is it makes believe that there’s someone out there.  So if your blue about love, life, or people in general this song is for you.  In addition, I’m going to let you guys be the judge this time.  Since I only want to hear your opinions I’m posting the music video but also the lyrics and would really love it if you guys told me some of your thoughts.  Here are the lyrics and audio recording:

True love will find you in the end- Daniel Johnston

Lyrics to the song:

True love will find you in the end
You’ll find out just who was your friend
Don’t be sad, I know you will,
But don’t give up until
True love finds you in the end.

This is a promise with a catch
Only if you’re looking will it find you
‘Cause true love is searching too
But how can it recognize you
Unless you step out into the light?
But don’t give up until
True love finds you in the end.

AM & Shawn Lee rocking the duet

Today’s new band is an indy rocking duet.  The two musicians are AM( legal name unknown) and Shawn Lee.  AM is a musician hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma.  His genres range from folk t0 alternative adult rock.  Recently, he teamed up on London with American musician/ multi- instrumentalist Shawn Lee(born in Whichita, Kanas).

These guys sound great together.  One of their song that have been recently noticed is Dark into Light.  The sounds in their songs are a refreshing sound.  Most of their songs are mellow and have a touch of psychedelic in them.  I would recommend this band for people who like funky songs with great lyrics.  Here are two of there songs:

Light into dark: AM and Shawn Lee:

Somebody like you – AM and Shawn Lee

Air Review

So today’s band is Air Review.  In this review I will be focusing more on one of my favorite song of mine Waiting Lessons.  I found this song (via Nylon Blogs) during a really difficult time in my life.  I downloaded it without really checking out, but as time went I listened to it and realized how beautiful the melody and lyrics are.

My favorite part about the song is the intro with the piano and the metaphorical lyrics.  Whenever ever I am in a bad mood and can’t talk to anyone I actually feel like this song can help through anything.  Here is a link to waiting lessons and another song from the band for you:

American Son- Air Review

Kate Earl is the lyrics to my Life

Tonight I was skyping my friend Matt and he sent me this awesome song. The song was called Melody by Kate Earl.  So I don’t have alot of info on her cause she doesn’t need a whole bio of why she’s so cool.  The lyrics are amazing, not to mention the beautiful melody and intoxicating voice.  Her talks about how when you find a song that you love, you find yourself and it makes you whole.  Her lyrics are organic and thoughtful.  It is simply the best song I have heard in a really long time and I really wanted to share it with all of you!!!!  Here is melody by:
