Holiday Obsessions

4367087-13-1-2-12

This entire week my head has been up in the clouds.  I can’t seem to get myself together to do any of my homework, or to even care about the two projects that I have to turn on Thursday.  Instead of worrying about that I have been obsessing over zombies, Love Actuallypresents, Passion Pit, and lykke Li.  Now this may seem like an odd list but that’s just the way I work

First off I am obsessing over the new movie Warm Bodies.  The movie stars Nicholas Hout, Dave Franco and Analeigh Tipton.  Basically it’s a zombie love story.  Basically, a zombie falls in love with a human and now must help change the entire population of zombies infected with the “plague”.  It’s kind of weird but at the same time I can’t help but be really intrigued about what might actually happen.  The movie comes out on February 1st.

Second:  Love Actually is one of the best christmas movies I have ever seen.  It has been my tradition to watch the movie on DVR during the holiday season.  If you haven’t seen the movie it stars big names and big laughs.  It is by the best romantic comedy out to date.

Third:  What would Christmas be without song good music to listen to.  So for this holiday season I highly recommend listening to some Passion Pit- Little Secrets and Lykke Li- Dance, Dance, Dance.  Passion Pit once again uses it’s upbeat base to create music or ears will crave.  In contrast Lykke Li uses simple beats and base guitar notes to help create her music.

Here are some the trailers/mp3 recordings:

“Bo Ho Ho”

So as all know the best holidays of all time are rapidly approaching.  What holidays am I referring to? Why Christmas and Hanukkah!!  But what kind of holiday would it be without a little something special from the president.  Every year the Whitehouse is elaborately decorated for the season.  This year the First family came up with ingenious idea to send a holiday to the country via Youtube.  But it gets better from there, the main star of the video is Bo, the Obama’s dog. He has enough sass accurately portrays the acuteness to detail and precision while decorating the White House.   I attached the link below and hope you guys enjoy it!

Tired of Playing by Rules

Sometimes the feeling of the world is on your shoulders.  The feeling that everyone around you is playing by a game that you have no interest in playing in. Maybe it is the stress of applying to colleges or life in general, but do you ever feel like you could do more, to be more?  ultimately in order to do that you must change the game and the rules.  So tonight I am going through some of the aspects that make me want to change the game:

Movies: Crossfire hurricane

In all cliché rebellion, you always turn to The Rolling Stones for some raw teenage rebellion .  So flipping through channels I saw a movie centered around the rise of the infamous band.  It was amazing.  I never gave them much attention to the Stones until now.  Through interviews and behind the scene moments, the Stones became even more infamous in my mind.  Highly recommend this movie

Fashion:

Recently I have been in the mode to change up my fashion sense.  I’m tired of playing safe when it comes to dressing up.  So what better way to spice things up with some bold colors and creative patterns.  I logged onto
http://www.pixiemarket.com/
.
Their stuff was extremely edgy with the right kind of clean cut look.  Combining different designers, the end result is an accumulation of vivid colors, nicely cut shirts and bottoms and bold patterns.  It is the perfect site to find that top that can make a statement.

Music: Chambermaid Swing Parov Stelar

With a new attitude and new look, you need a song to have a good time.  So what better way then a swing.  In Parov Stelar’s new song, the musician manages to make the jazzy music, into an edgy dance party.  So get into party mode and swing like it’s 1920.  Cause if this song has no limits neither do you.

Cloud Atlas

I am so excited to see this film!  It looks amazingly filmed and acted.

The last song is Outro- m83

MoonRise Kingdom Setting the Tone for Summer

In the city when summer is calling so, so are the new movies.  So on this wonderful lazy Saturday I went to see the new indie flick MoonRise Kingdom.  The film is centered around two nine-year-old boy and girl living on a island know as New Penzence.  A khaki scout,  Sam (the little boy) runs away to find his love Susy Bishop.  Together they run away and a chase ensues including the island police (Bruce Willis) , Susy’s dysfunctional parents (played by Bill Murray and Francis McDormand) and the Chief Scout Master (Edward Norton).  Along the way they renages get ensnared if scout battles, avoiding social service workers (Tilda Swinton) and utimatley being married by a fellow scout master (Jason Schwartzman).

Altogether I thought the movie was cute.  The movie had this odd charm to it.  The set was pratical and the script was clean and cut.  I thought it was one of the most original films I have seen all summer!  Both Susy and Sam make quite the pair and for their age they are pretty smart.  I was surprised by the heartwarming moments between Edward Norton and Bruce Willis.  And of course I enjoyed the humor!  All around it made a good movie!

Rating: 10 Go see it!!!
