Food for Thought: Perfection

4e131c159678553cf37f2ee24167b8efPerfection is something that is unachievable.  It is a state of being that one can never truly reach.  Everyone is always fighting for perfection in their life. And I am no exception.  Like millions of people in the world, I try my hardest to make things just the way I think they should be.    We all go to extreme lengths just to make sure that maybe we can make ourselves into the perfect human beings.  But like I said, that is totally unachievable.  I find that it’s sad in modern-day society and pop culture that we try to convince girls to be “perfect”. Photo’s of anorexic models on magazine covers and countless articles telling us how to get the perfect beach body.  I have found that most girls are under pressure to have the right body, the right face, the right genetics..ect. But let’s get real, at the end of the day we always find something wrong with ourselves.

Recently I started trying to take control of my life.  I felt that I was a young adult who needed to start contributing to the world.  I wanted to be the child who knew what she wanted and where she wanted to go.  I wanted to be perfect.  But, I am slowly starting realizing that I have no idea what I want and I a certainly not perfect.  So that is why I chose this quote for tonight’s post.  I wanted to make a public declaration that I am not perfect.  To remind myself and other people that nothing in this world is perfect.  The only goal you can have is to become the best person you can be. Don’t hold yourself to the impossible notion of perfection.  Take life as it comes your way.  Try and enjoy it, even when the going gets tough.

Food for Thought: Earnest Hemingway

“The best people possess a feeling for beauty. The courage to take risks. The discipline to tell the truth. The capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable: they are often wounded or even destroyed”

Get Caught Up: Inferno by Dan Brown

dbinferno

Usually on my blog, I don’t write book reviews.  But, there are so many good books out there, so I might review some of the ones I actually like to you.   This all began when I recently finished reading Dan Brown’s new book Inferno.  I was so excited to start reading the new installment of the Robert Langdon series. By the end of the book my expectations had been more than satisfied. Robert Langdon is back, and on strict time limit to help solve the mysteries of Dante’ Inferno, in hopes to save the world from a bio-engineered plague while being chased by a man called the provost.  Can Langdon solve the tricky riddles of Dante’s Inferno in order to save the world?

I loved the book from start to finish. As an omnivorous reader, I relished the unexpected plot twists that helped keep the plot alive.  And as history buff, I enjoyed the art history references and the factual content of the book.  But the most interesting part of the book was the science behind the plague.  Though I do not want to give too much information out, I really felt that the genius of the plague was the real jewel of the novel.  Dan Brown has throughly outdone himself in his new novel.  I am excited to see if Inferno will be made into a movie.  My rating: 9.5/10

I hope everyone is having a great week.  I decided for tonight’s post to do something a little different.  Rather than focusing on fashion I decided to focus on the artistic realm of tatoos.  Although I am not the biggest fan of tatoos, I have to say these are pretty great.  Most of the ones I found were of some of my favorite books.  I love how precise all the details are in these.  I posted the website in which I got the photos from.  Please comment and tell me what you guys think!
